NEXX X.RALLY Carbon

Engineered for Adventure. Proven on the Road.

Adventure helmets have become one of the fastest-evolving segments in motorcycle gear. Riders no longer expect a helmet to excel in only one discipline. Modern adventure travel often means leaving the pavement, spending hours on secondary roads, riding highways to connect destinations, standing on the pegs through rough terrain, and finishing the day walking through a historic town, all without changing equipment.

That is exactly the philosophy behind the NEXX X.RALLY Carbon.

Developed primarily for hard enduro and serious off-road riding, the X.RALLY combines the lightweight advantages of a carbon fiber shell with the versatility required for today’s adventure motorcycles. It is designed to transition effortlessly between three distinct configurations—Dual Sport, Off-Road, and On-Road—allowing riders to adapt the helmet to virtually any riding environment.

During our ride across Spain and Portugal, we had the opportunity to use the X.RALLY exactly as it was intended: over multiple days, across changing weather conditions, mountain roads, highways, and everything in between. The result is a helmet with a very clear identity.

Built Around Lightweight Performance

Weight is one of the first specifications riders notice when choosing an adventure helmet. Long days in the saddle quickly reveal whether a helmet has been designed to minimize neck fatigue or simply to meet a target number on a specification sheet.

The X.RALLY begins with NEXX’s X-PRO Carbon shell, allowing the helmet to weigh approximately 1,350 grams while maintaining excellent structural rigidity and impact resistance.

In practice, the helmet immediately feels balanced. Its low weight becomes especially noticeable during long riding days, frequent head checks, and technical sections where riders spend extended periods standing on the pegs. Rather than feeling top-heavy, the helmet remains stable and predictable throughout changing riding positions.

Designed for Modern Adventure Riding

Unlike many traditional dual-sport helmets, the X.RALLY has been designed as a modular platform capable of adapting to different styles of riding. With the peak installed, it offers the visibility and protection expected from an off-road helmet. Remove the peak, and the profile becomes cleaner for extended pavement riding.

For riders using off-road goggles, the eye port provides generous compatibility, making transitions between road and dirt remarkably straightforward. This flexibility reflects the reality of modern adventure travel, where a single day can easily include highways, gravel roads, and technical trails.

Carbon Construction With Advanced Protection

Safety extends well beyond the outer shell. The X.RALLY incorporates X-Foam impact bumpers, manufactured from ultra-light EPP foam and extending around the entire lower perimeter of the helmet, including the chin area. This additional structure is designed to absorb impact energy while helping reduce forces transmitted toward the collarbone during certain types of crashes.

The helmet also uses a durable aluminum-magnesium double D-ring retention system, providing excellent strength while resisting corrosion over years of use. A magnetic X-LOCK keeper secures the loose end of the chin strap, eliminating one of the small annoyances common to traditional double D-ring systems. It is a simple feature, but one riders quickly learn to appreciate during everyday use.

Ventilation Designed for Real Conditions

Adventure riding places unique demands on helmet ventilation. Unlike dedicated street riding, speeds constantly change between slow technical sections and open roads, making consistent airflow far more challenging.

The X.RALLY addresses this with an extensive ventilation system incorporating nine intake vents and six exhaust ports, allowing continuous circulation through the helmet. Additional ventilation channels around the cheek pads and chin area further improve airflow while helping regulate internal temperature.

The interior itself has been developed around a specialized 3D mesh liner, maximizing breathability while helping keep dust and fine particles away from the rider’s skin. NEXX also incorporates its Air Cumbs cooling chamber, designed to improve thermal regulation during long rides in varying climates.

During our trip, these systems proved extremely effective. Whether riding through warm afternoons in central Spain or cooler mountain sections later in the day, airflow remained consistent and easy to regulate through the adjustable vents. The helmet never developed the enclosed feeling that often accompanies less ventilated adventure designs.

Stability at Speed

One characteristic immediately stood out during our highway riding. Adventure helmet peaks can sometimes become tiring at sustained speed, creating lift or placing constant pressure on the rider’s neck. The X.RALLY’s peak is remarkably stable. Even during extended stretches of highway, it remained composed without creating an unwanted upward pull.

This stability reflects careful aerodynamic development and contributes significantly to overall riding comfort during longer distances. The helmet’s Recoil Visor System further enhances this experience. Using spring-loaded base plates, the visor automatically seals against a dual-lip gasket each time it closes, improving weather sealing while contributing to acoustic isolation. The mechanism operates independently of the peak, allowing smooth visor operation regardless of configuration.

Comfort Over Long Distances

Long-distance comfort depends on much more than shell weight. Interior materials, pressure distribution, and overall fit all contribute to reducing fatigue throughout a full day of riding. The X.RALLY’s interior feels carefully engineered, with soft materials and an ergonomic shape that supports the head naturally without creating excessive pressure points.

The advanced 3D mesh lining remains comfortable across changing temperatures while maintaining impressive breathability. Combined with the helmet’s low weight, the result is a riding experience that remains consistently comfortable over extended mileage.

Ready for Technology

Adventure riders increasingly rely on communication systems, navigation, and action cameras. NEXX clearly anticipated this trend. The X.RALLY includes dedicated recesses for universal intercom speakers, along with specific mounting channels that allow communication systems to integrate cleanly into the helmet without interfering with comfort.

For riders documenting their adventures, the optional POV Kit provides purpose-built mounting solutions for action cameras. The system includes both a top mount and a reversible chin mount, allowing multiple recording angles while maintaining secure attachment. This integrated approach is considerably cleaner than relying solely on aftermarket adhesive mounts.

Adventure Without Compromise

One aspect of the X.RALLY deserves particular recognition. It never feels like a compromise between road and off-road equipment. Instead, it successfully combines characteristics from both worlds. The panoramic field of vision benefits technical riding. The aerodynamic stability supports highway travel. The extensive ventilation keeps the helmet comfortable across changing climates. The lightweight carbon shell reduces fatigue over long days. Rather than specializing in only one environment, the X.RALLY embraces the diversity that defines modern adventure riding.

Conclusion

The NEXX X.RALLY Carbon represents a thoughtful interpretation of what a modern adventure helmet should be. Its lightweight carbon construction, outstanding ventilation, adaptable configuration, advanced safety technologies, and excellent long-distance comfort make it equally capable of tackling technical trails, remote gravel roads, and extended highway touring.

More importantly, it never asks the rider to choose between off-road capability and touring comfort. It successfully delivers both. For adventure riders looking for a premium helmet built for versatility rather than specialization, the X.RALLY stands as one of the most technically complete options currently available, ready for everything from weekend escapes to multi-country expeditions where the route, weather, and terrain are never entirely predictable.
