The Alpinestars Techdura Modular Kit
A technical, adaptable Alpinestars Techdura jacket-and-pant system built for serious enduro and off-road work.
Alpinestars’ Techdura line is a technical, modular kit. This system is designed specifically for the rigorous demands of enduro and off-road riding, engineered for adaptability. It allows a rider to configure the gear for the weather, the terrain, and the specific needs of the ride. We got our hands on the jacket and pants to see how the system performs in the field.
The Techdura Jacket
The Techdura Jacket is built from a durable stretch polyamide canvas. This material provides both flexibility for active riding and serious structural resilience. On the trail, this translates to freedom of movement when weighting the pegs or maneuvering the bike, without a restrictive feel. The resilience means it’s built to shrug off encounters with branches and rocks. The outer shell is water-resistant and windproof, offering reliable protection against the elements. Critically, reinforced elbow panels increase abrasion resistance in high-contact zones, adding durability where it’s needed most.
In the field, this modularity is the main story. The jacket is designed to fit cleanly over body protection, including the Bionic Tech V3, and once it’s on, everything falls into place. It adapts easily to changing conditions. Large side torso vents enhance airflow on slow, technical sections. When the temperature rises, the detachable raglan sleeves are a real highlight. They can be removed and stored in the large back pocket, converting the jacket to a vest for high-heat, high-effort riding. When the temperature drops, closing the vents and zippers brings a comfortable level of warmth, ideal for long mountain sections when the air cools off fast.
A key feature is the detachable tactical pack, a modular storage solution that attaches to the front chest and back. The front includes four chest pockets with an airflow channel, providing storage for tools or accessories. The rear compartment is designed to accommodate a hydration bladder. This tactical outer vest can be removed depending on the ride. It keeps essential items (documents, wallet, a multi-tool) right where you need them, without a separate bag. For a long day on a BDR or a multi-day enduro, this integration is a primary feature.
For fit, the jacket uses stretch paneling to enhance freedom of movement and a magnetic auto-lock buckle to keep it secure, even during high-vibration riding.
The Techdura Pants
The Techdura Pants match the same philosophy of rugged adaptability. The chassis is built from the same stretch polyamide canvas, ensuring consistent protection and stability. The back of the legs incorporates Stretchnet fabric for ventilation, a crucial feature for managing heat. This placement allows hot air to escape efficiently while the rider is in motion. Inner knee areas are reinforced with goat leather panels, which serve a dual purpose: they provide massive abrasion resistance and also allow for positive, tactile grip against the bike’s frame.
The pants are engineered to fit an active riding position. The cut is optimized to fit perfectly over Alpinestars’ knee protectors and tucks cleanly into boots. They feel comfortable all day, flexible enough for active movement on the bike, yet sturdy and protective. The articulation is excellent, with no binding when transitioning from sitting to standing. The resilient, purpose-made materials inspire confidence on every trail.
The pants feature an SX2 magnetic auto-lock buckle for a secure, adjustable waist. Ventilation openings on the thighs add another layer of climate control, allowing cool air to enter, which then flushes warm air out through the rear Stretchnet panels.
The Alpinestars Techdura Jacket and Pants form a setup that feels ready for adventure from the very first ride. The integration of durable materials, modular ventilation, and smart, functional storage (like the tactical pack and hydration pocket) results in a highly functional solution for enduro and off-road riders. This is a kit engineered from the ground up for utility, durability, and rider-focused performance.
