Saudi Baja 2025 Kicks Off FIM Bajas World Cup Season in the Desert

The 2025 FIM Bajas World Cup is set to launch in the vast deserts of Saudi Arabia, with the Saudi Baja following the legendary Dakar Rally as the season opener. As the rally world shifts its focus to shorter, high-intensity cross-country races, the Saudi Baja will be the battleground for elite riders vying for an early lead in the championship.

Defending Champions and Emerging Threats

Reigning champion Mohammed Al-Balooshi returns to the Baja circuit with the #1 plate for the third time, representing MX Ride Dubai. Alongside him, his teammates Rafic Eid, Sultan Al-Balooshi, and Marwan Al-Rahmani aim to dominate the leaderboard. However, competition will be fierce, especially from Saudi Arabia’s own Abdulhalim Al-Mogheera, who will be looking to claim victory on home soil.

A rising contender to watch is Alex McInnes, one of the young talents aiming to disrupt the established order. With 33 riders on the start list, including two female competitors—Sarah Kuraibet and Sarah Kashyap—as well as junior entries McInnes and Hanno Geyser, the race promises to be a thrilling spectacle.

Quad Category: Saudi Riders Hold the Advantage

In the quad class, a six-rider grid will take on the desert challenge. Saudi Arabia dominated the 2024 season, and the top three from last year—Hani Al-Noumesi, Abdulaziz Al-Shayban, and Abdulaziz Al-Atawi—are back to defend their positions. With a home advantage and past podium experience, they remain favorites for the title.

Race Schedule and Format

The Millennium Hotel in Hail serves as the event’s headquarters, while Hail University hosts the service park, parc fermé, and the start/finish line.

January 29 – Administrative and scrutineering checks
January 30 – Ceremonial start + 5 km Prologue to determine the starting order
January 31 – Special Stage 1: 260 km
February 1 – Special Stage 2: 160 km, followed by the prize-giving ceremony in Al-Maghwat
