Excitement Builds for Red Bull Erzbergrodeo 2025
Major Announcements Unveiled in Vienna
The highly anticipated 29th edition of the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, set to thrill motorsport enthusiasts from May 29 to June 1, 2025, at Austria’s iconic Erzberg, was officially previewed at a prominent press conference yesterday at Café Landtmann. Promoter Karl Katoch was joined by illustrious figures from the motorsport community, including Heinz Kinigadner, founder of Wings for Life, five-time Erzberg winner Taddy Blazusiak, Red Bull Ring General Manager Thomas Überall, and Red Bull Romaniacs founder Martin Freinademetz.
A Global Attraction
Karl Katoch proudly announced that the event continues to draw immense international interest, boasting participation from over 1,200 riders representing 50 nations. Highlighting the significance of sustained sponsorships, Katoch noted the event now carries costs of several million euros, underlining the critical role of long-term partnerships.
“The Red Bull Erzbergrodeo remains the benchmark in Extreme Enduro, a discipline born right here on Erzberg,” stated Katoch, noting the increasing interest among younger riders, with over 60% of current participants between the ages of 18 and 30.
Collaboration for New World Championship Titles
In a significant move aimed at filling the gap left by the cancellation of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship, the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo and Red Bull Romaniacs announced joint plans to award prestigious Extreme Enduro World Championship titles. This initiative promises continued high-level competition for global athletes.
“Both Erzbergrodeo and Romaniacs have historically shaped Extreme Enduro,” said Martin Freinademetz. “Our combined efforts will create new opportunities and recognition for athletes at the pinnacle of the sport.”
Heinz Kinigadner praised the decision, emphasizing that both events, despite differing formats, Erzberg’s intense single-day challenge and Romaniacs’ demanding multi-day rally, stand alone in their unmatched difficulty.
Blazusiak Returns to KTM
Adding excitement, Extreme Enduro legend Taddy Blazusiak announced his return to KTM Factory Racing. The 41-year-old Polish superstar described his comeback as a homecoming, recalling his career-launching 2007 Erzbergrodeo victory and subsequent international success.
“Although not competing in a full season, I’ll definitely be racing at my favorite events like Erzberg,” Blazusiak enthused.
MotoGP Excitement at Red Bull Ring
Thomas Überall highlighted the Austrian Motorcycle Grand Prix’s return to Spielberg from August 15-17, promising fans an unparalleled MotoGP experience complemented by concerts, FMX shows, and interactive activities. “We prioritize fan experience,” he affirmed, inviting enthusiasts to participate in unique opportunities like pillion rides on a KTM RC16 racing motorcycle.
Climate-Friendly Travel
The TransFER Erzberg, a popular environmentally-friendly transport option, is fully booked for 2025, highlighting its success in promoting convenient, congestion-free travel for participants and their vehicles.
Erzbergrodeo Exhibition in Vienna
Fans can currently visit an impressive motorsport exhibit near Café Landtmann, showcasing vehicles from KTM, Porsche, Cupra, and Ineos Grenadier alongside partner displays from Wacker Neuson, Segway, and others, until Sunday.
With these announcements, anticipation for the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo 2025 has reached fever pitch, promising another unforgettable chapter in Extreme Enduro history.
