Advanced Impact Resistance and Airflow

At its core, the Bionic Plus V2 is a CE and UKCA-certified upper-body armor system engineered to be worn close to the body. The standout feature is the Level 2 Cell Technology chest protector, which offers high-impact resistance while remaining extremely light and well-ventilated. Unlike bulky traditional protectors, this design allows air to flow freely, keeping core temperature under control during high-effort trail sections.

During our seven-day evaluation on the Northern California Backcountry Discovery Route, the Bionic Plus V2 became the real workhorse of our gear system. Whether we were navigating mountain terrain or rocky climbs, the armor remained breathable and comfortable even during long technical sections where physical exertion was at its peak.

Ergonomic Fit and Stability

Protection continues with a super-ventilated Level 2 Nucleon Cell & Flex Hybrid back protector. Ergonomically shaped, it adapts naturally to the rider’s movements, flexing when needed without compromising coverage. The elbows and shoulders are protected by Level 1 certified armor, maintaining low bulk while offering reliable impact absorption.

A new elastic closure system with redesigned quick-release buckles handles fit and usability. These buckles are easy to operate with gloves on and allow riders to quickly fine-tune the fit. Once adjusted, the jacket stays perfectly in place throughout the ride, never shifting during sudden body movements or repeated transitions from sitting to standing.

Integration and Field Performance

This jacket is designed to disappear once the riding gets physical. In our field test, we found that adventure shells like the Hyde XT Drystar® XF fit naturally over this armor, creating a versatile system that can be layered or stripped back depending on the intensity of the ride.

Its real-world value was proven when a sudden impact on a gravel section tested the system’s integrity; the shoulder protection took a direct hit from a heavy KTM 1290 Super Adventure R, leaving the rider completely unharmed and able to continue the journey.
